5 Min Cookie Dough Protein Balls.....no dates....no blenders
If you are anything like me, in the past I have been known to consume more cookie dough while making cookies for the kids than baking cookies...oops
I often crave a sweet treat mid afternoon and these are a great option to not only hit that sweet spot but also contain protein and healthy fats so that you feel fuller for longer rather than reaching for that chocolate bar.
Like all protein balls and healthier snacks there is still a need for moderation.
You can get too much of a good thing. Because these are so delicious we do recommend once you make them that you portion them into containers or bags, and put in the fridge or freezer to ensure you don't eat them all at once!
They will need a few minutes to thaw out if you put them in the freezer but thats a great thing as it means you won't eat them as quickly :)
The beautiful thing about this recipe is that it is easy to adapt and change the flavourings around to suit your own tastes and mix it up if you start to get bored. Change the protein powder flavour, change the nut butter flavour, the possibilities are endless :)
2 scoops of protein powder (I used 2 vanilla in this one but use whatever flavour you have)
1 cup Almond Meal
1/4 cup Cashew Butter/Spread (any nut butter will do although peanut butter is a little over powering) **
1/2 cup rice malt syrup (I have a sweet tooth so I had 1/4 cup rice malt and 1/4 cup of honey)
1 Tblsp of organic cacao nibs
Mix all ingredients together and roll into balls. Store in the fridge or an air tight container.
** You could utilise Almond Butter, Cashew Butter, Macadamia Butter, Tahini....anything you like really :)
